New Plan Schemes to be implemented in the 10th Five Year Plan and Existing schemes to be continued:

1. District Cultural Centres:
A policy decision has been taken to set up Cultural Centres in each District with a view to decentralize cultural activities in the capital. The Centre at Janak Puri has been completed and the other one at Ashok Vihar has been taken up.

2. Construction of Building:
At present, all Language Academies viz. Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Sindhi, Sanskrit, Dr. Goshwami Girdhari Lal Shastri Prachya Vidhya Prathisthanam Academies and Sahitya Kala Parishad are scattered in different parts in Delhi. It has therefore been decided that all these Academies including SKP brought under one roof. A multi story building is proposed to be constructed which will house common facilities such as library, museum, art gallery, auditorium, committee room etc.

3. Mega Cultural Center :
A Mega Cultural Center has also been proposed in 12th Plan providing International Class facilities for cultural development and exchange. A full fledge proposal is under active consideration of the Govt.

4. Making Academies Self Sustaining by the end of 12th Plan:
The Academies will take active steps to become self sustaining and with this objective in view, suitable measures will be devised to start a Corpus Fund from the earnings of the various cultural and literary activities every year which could be utilized for giving Grant-in-aid for promotion of Art, Culture & Languages in Delhi.

5. Delhi City Museum:
It was proposed to set up Delhi City Museum behind Kashmiri Gate which could reflect the History and Culture of the city. PWD invited tenders for construction of the museum building but the proposed building came to a stand still as the Archaeological Survey of India raised objection to the proposed building as it falls within the prohibited area. In view of above, an alternative site is being explored for the purpose.

6. Gandhi Vichar Academy:
The Govt. of Delhi proposes to set up a Gandhi Vichar Academy with a view to plan and carry out activities for the promotion of Mahatma Gandhi's ideals and of the national cause identified with him, especially National Integration and the welfare and betterment of the under privileged. The proposed Academy will act as a catalyst to further accelerate the propagation of the principles of Truth, Non-Violence & Peace by motivating the public at large and young masses in particular. The Academy will be responsible for promoting the philosophy and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi in their right perspective with the assistance of N.G.Os, Educational Institutions etc. responsible for preserving rare manuscripts hitherto unknown and unpublished and coordinate and collaborate with other institutions and organizations, Govt. and Non-Govt. engaged in Gandhian Work.

7. Digitization of Antiquities:
Special Initiatives have been taken for up-gradation of skulls and digitization of antiquities. A museum is proposed to be set up at Dara Shikoh Library Building, Kashmere Gate with the display of antiquities, sculptures, excavated material besides up-gradation and modernization of existing galleries.
The existing schemes which were undertaken in the 12th Five Year Plan and are to be continued during the 12th Five Year Plan with modifications of expansion and diversification have been detailed in the web sites of the respective departments and autonomous bodies.
