Art, Culture and Language Department 
The Art, Culture and Languages Department came into existence after being carved out of the Education Department in the year 1999. The Art, Culture & Languages Department of Govt. of NCT of Delhi is working for propagation, promotion and development of languages, literature, art and culture as an integral part of composite culture of NCT of Delhi. The Art, Culture & Language Department organizes Academic, Literary as well as cultural activities like Music & Dance Programs, Seminars, Symposiums, Poet Meets, Plays and Publications etc. These activities are carried out through Sahitya Kala Parishad, various Language Academies and Dr. Goswami Girdhari Lal Shastri Prachya Vidya Pratishtan (Dr.G.G.L.S.P.V.P).
The Department of Archives and Department of Archaeology are also under the administrative control of the Art, Culture & Languages Department. The Archives Department is a repository of non-current records of Government of NCT of Delhi. Department is in possession of rich and unique collections of original records relating to the events, which took place in 1802 and onwards. 500 Lakh (No.) of Archival Records are there in Archives Department out of which 400 Lakh (No.) of Archival records have been digitized and 400 Lakh (No.) of Archival Records has been Microfilmed.
Department of Archaeology (DoA), GNCTD undertakes the conservation, preservation and development works to improve the ambience of monuments (Non ASI) for promoting them as point of Tourist interest in Delhi.
Besides above, 15 new Language Academies have been registered under the Societies Act, however, the same are yet to be functional.
